Poetry at a time like this challenged authors from different places in Brazil to write poetry about 2020, the year of Covid, social distancing, record fires, another year of intolerance, racism, femicide. A year of hope and struggle, grief and strength. Here, in verses measured or not, in accentuated rhythms or running as slow as a river, the poems flow in their parallel languages in the same direction, the present. They are writings of our time, not tied to the past or the future; they are here and say what they feel today. Without also becoming a true reflection of a reality, the poems free the restrained birds of affection.
